Question

I have a QUANTUM harddrive having 6.4GB with a HP LOGO on it,And the SN(Serial Number)#366928431021(It also says FIREBALL PLUS) I want to know the CYLINDER/HEADS/And SECTOR INFORMATION so that my WINDOWS 98SE FDISK can work,Im having a very hard time with the JUMPER WS/PK/CS/DS SETTINGS-How do i get This HARDDRIVE to adapt to work with my DELL computer? Some1 donated this harddrive to me and didnt have the sector info.

Answer

Unfortunately we need the model number and/or type of the drive in order to determine the Cylinder, heads, sectors, etc. Therefore we are unable to provide you with additional information about this drive.

It's likely that if the drive is good that you can set the settings to AUTO and it will automatically detect the hard disk drive information allowing you to setup the hard disk drive in FDISK. Additional information about entering CMOS setup can be found on the below page.

If setting CMOS to AUTO the computer does not see the drive it's likely that your jumpers are incorrect.
