Question

I have a random shutdown problem. Since Oct 2004. It doesn't always hang, but just enough to make me aggravated. I have gone through many of the steps listed in the windows help section of my computer. Some of the steps I am too afraid to try. Nothing has worked. I used a Registry repair pro, that helped but didn't solve it. I defrag and scan for errors frequently. All the routine stuff like running spybot and adaware, I do. I run viRobot instead of McAfee because the latter caused me so many problems. I run a barebones startup list of programs. The problem still doesn't stop. When I hit control alt delete the task manager usually shows Rundl32 still not shutting down. I have run the Ultimate Troubleshooter to see if anything unusual is running in the background. Didn't really find anything different. Do you have any ideas what I can do? I am afraid to change stuff wih selective start up and go into the system ini. Thought maybe you might know something.

Answer

A random restart can actually be caused by various possibilities. We suggest you go through the steps on the below document.
