Question

I would normally just get right to the question, but I've decided to relay the whole story, beginning with how I got into this mess.
Not to long ago I decided that I wanted to be l33t and get Linux. Of course being that this is my family's computer I just couldn't get rid of Windows, so I needed a duel boot system. As I couldn't find a free way to get Linux on my computer, I gave in and bought 'Red Hat Linux 9 for Dummies' which came with a copy.
When I got the book I read it in ernest and begin the process of preparing my computer for Linux. After doing the first few steps which were simple enough, I came to the most challengeing step yet, repartitioning my harddrive. While I consider myself very knowledgeable on the subject of computers, I am not. I had heard of repartitioning, but I knew no one that had ever repartitioned their harddrive, and while the book explained how to repartition the harddrive I still had absolutely no idea what I was messing with. Thus I gave my new partition about 31 GB while leaving Windows with 25.5 GB without evening knowing that I was doing so.
After this I installed Linux on the new partition and everything was going great. I had Linux at last, unfortunately Windows was going downhill. It was haveing major problems running with less harddrive space, and while I loved having Linux I couldn't lose Windows, so I deleted the new partition, using fdisk, Linux going with it hoping that everything would go back to the way that it was before, but of course it didn't.
You guys are my last hope, so I beg of you to help. I need to know how to have my partition use the harddrive space 100%. I have heard that making the partition use all of the harddrive, without deleting anything, is hard and if you don't know how to do so already, shouldn't bother.

Answer

If you wish to extend a partition, shrink a partition, combine partitions, or otherwise manipulate a partition without erasing any of the information on the hard drive we would recommend you look into Partition Magic. A link with additional information about Partition Magic can be found on the below link.
