In an effort to make this section of the forums more friendly we have opened the new Virus and spyware removal forum as a separate area dedicated to virus and spyware removal. This will allow different sections for general security topics and malware removal. We ask that only members who are on the malware removal team to post in the Virus and spyware removal forum but the other section is open for anyone to post and respond.

If you have any questions or suggestions please post in this topic.

Thanks.

/// UPDATE \\\ 4/23/2010

If there is any malware tool logs posted in this forum (HijackThis, OTL, MBAM, etc), you may not reply to them. Instead, PM a moderator, and they will move them over. ~DragonMaster Jay

We sure hope so!

It will be disorganized at first but hopefully in a short time it will all be sorted out.

I'm going to start posting some security related topics shortly to try and push the current malware removal topics onto the second page.

Anyone posting in the new section not on the removal team or is not a victim will have their post edited and possibly removed. Please keep this in mind. :)

its a good idea , a general site means that help can be given and/or if need be moved to the new forum

If you see posts in the general forum that are malware related treat them as you do now and leave them alone. We will move them when we see them.

I think to make the malware forum a little bit easier for the people needing help would be to make all new threads auto-notify on reply/move. That way, just like GPA, members know when you reply to (or move) their thread.

So actually malware victims can also post to the "Computer viruses and spyware" forum to request help, correct?

And which Computer Hope forum is the one for "general security topics"?

If you are a victim of viruses or spyware, etc.. you are allowed to post in the new section. Just anyone that does not need help with malware, should refrain from posting there. Anyone who posts there that does not need help, will be the actual helpers.

Attention, evilfantasy:

I don't understand. I went to the following forum: Computer Hope - Computer Help Forums  >>  Software  >>  Computer viruses and spyware. Its URL is: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,7.0.html. That's THIS forum.

The first thread in this forum is: "Virus and spyware removal new home". Its URL is http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,100901.0.html. That's THIS thread, the "Virus and spyware removal new home" thread in the "Computer viruses and spyware" forum.

Now you say:

If they post in the main forum we will move it into the Virus and spyware removal forum.

And I say:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,7.0.html is the "Virus and spyware removal" forum.

I don't doubt that somehow this all seems perfectly logical to you. But I'm a newbie here. Look at it from my point of view. I can't see how it possibly can appear otherwise to me: you're running me in a circle. We're having this discussion in the "Virus and spyware removal" forum, and you're telling me that there's another forum, the "main" forum, but the explicit URL and actual link that you give me are for THIS forum, the "Virus and spyware removal" forum. Surely you have made an error. Please tell me the CORRECT URL for the "main" forum. Thank you.

If you click on the "Virus and spyware removal new home" topic you will see it links to the "Virus and spyware removal" sub-forum.

The main forum is for general security issues, the sub-forum is for malware removal.

Attention, evilfantasy:

Thank you. The URL for the “Computer viruses and spyware" forum is:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,7.0.html

and the URL for the "Virus and spyware removal" sub-forum is:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,53.0.html

Sorry, the link to the sub-forum didn’t look like a link, at least in my browser.

A few links pointing towards the software or tools that removes malware, adware, spyware from the system without affecting operating system or booting sequence would be fine.
thank you,
Darren.

My other computer's not working due to a Trojan virus. I have been trying to ask for computer technical help and checking on other topics related to my issue. How will I fix it?
