olympic flatbed scanner OTC-600 EP and XP

I have installed original software from CD seems to load ok but when I try to use scanner  window pops up saying "scanning page 1" then window pops up saying "FAIL LOAD ".  What could be the proplem.

Thanks for your reply truenorth, I am still trying but seem to get stuck on selecting twain in textbridge.   Will keep getting more info and try some more.
