win 98 resolution problem

i recently reformatted and reinstalled windows on an old computer.  having done this successfully i ran it  for the first time to discover that the resolution had been set to 640 x 480. i thought this was a simple problem, but it seem that i cant change it. when i looked in properties - settings there is only one resolution - 640 x 480 and only 16 colours or 2 colours. i updated directx but it was no help. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

You need Win98 drivers for your video card.

erm..when i say old....not only do i not know what video card it has, but im not absolutely sure whether it has one or not

Install videocard drivers.

type dxdiag in the run box to find out more
