People make a lot of exaggerated claims. Even if a person were to get every single mount available and were a Paladin (3 class mounts) Tailor (3 profession mounts) and Engineer (2 profession mounts) and got every single trading card game mount, faction mount, dropped mount, buyable mount, Recruit-a-friend mount, etc. the total is 152 ground and flying mounts on either side of the fence (Horde or Alliance) on a single character. There are over 200 mounts in game, but only 152 available to any given character, and that even includes mounts that are no longer available (Argent Tourney mounts, Brewfest mount, etc.).

It may be possible that a brand new character is limited to 152 mounts, but any given character limited to 152 mounts is incorrect. I know this topic is a month old, but nothing has changed since September to October. My character currently has 142 mounts and the ability to gain an additional (currently in game) 36 mounts. So someone having 153 mounts is quite possible, difficult as it may be.

The important question of course is, whether out of all the mounts in WoW... can you ride a pig?

No....I can't ride a pig....but I do ride around on a magical rooster.

My initial count missed some of the newer mounts. There are now 178 obtainable mounts, including ones already removed from the game.

If I played WoW I would totally have a  blue pegasus named Rainbow Dash as my loyal mount. Ideally with a mane and tail that makes it actually rainbow coloured. At least that is what I would work towards.

Since I don't I'll have to settle for Pigs. I suppose I need to use my 12 saddles for something.
