http://www.facebook.com/notes/will-j-osborne/what-is-this-video-game/113805138722372

I hope this is okay to ask here, I know most is tech questions, but I really want to know what this game is and every time I post the question on answers or the other similar site they delete it without any explanation and there is no bad language or anything in my question so it makes no sense to me. It's just simply a question, like all the rest they allow on site. Maybe someone doesn't like me there and just reports it every time without any reason who knows, but I couldn't get it to even stay up a whole week and so no one has helped me figure this out and I know someone out there besides me has played this game and might know the actual name of it from my detailed description of it.

I tested again and yes the link to my note on facebook with the description that is set to public viability still works, don't know why it's not working for you, but here is a direct copy of it:
Not sure if it was on a pc or mac or apple pc, but I played it back in the 80s and at the time it was a really cool video game, but I never caught the title of the game, so here is everything I remember (if yopu know what game this is please tell me):You start off as a kid who just woke up and the room you start in is his bedroom, which is a complete mess and there is a pile of dirty laundry at the foot of the bed. You can go to the dresser and open it and find your wallet in one of the drawers, but if you leave the house with it you get mugged and a game over screen. You can wonder around outside where to save money on graphics they made it  pitch black midnight outside and so finding anywhere takes a lot of practice walking blindly, I did manage to find a bus or train station once but couldn't go anywhere since it cost money and I could never figure out how to get wallet out of house without getting mugged.I am pretty sure this was before they even made use of the mouse in video games, so all commands were on the keyboard, you had to type pretty much everything from open dresser, take wallet, to walk south.

it's "public" in the definition of the term meaning "public to all registered facebook users" I don't have one. Thank you for copying it here.

I couldn't really find anything fitting that description, there is a game called "Shenanigans" that sounds similar but doesn't have a lot of the elements that you describe.

sorry didn't know they require accounts to view, I guess that's cause I don't know any friends who don't have an account there, so it never came up. I thought everybody was on there nowadays. :)

Yeah I don't think that's it, but thanks for trying. I wish I had more details, but that's all I remember since I only got to play it for a short time.

Yes it was a lot more advanced in graphics on the graphical screens though, not what we have today but a lot closer to it than that one. I just found a copy they allowed me to test so I wasn't sure from game stills, but looking at it in the playable dosbox verified what I originally thought that the graphics are not developed enough to be the game I'm looking for. So it must have been newer than that sorry I think it was more in the late 80's

I have been through every single game of that genre that I can think of and none of them fit that description. Can you tell us anything else about it?

I think u can pick of other weird items that I never found a use for like a toothbrush in bathroom or something similar and in a game that's kind of weird. But other than that no I only remember the small bit of the game I got to play I think it was adventure strategy I assume that's the genre u checked out. I have went through every game I could find and haven't had any luck either, but I know it exist because I played it so it must be one of those rare already out of print and un documented games, thanks for trying maybe someone who played it if they stumble upon this will know what game it is. Hopefully someone out there has at least played the game and can add either some more info or a title.
I wish I could tell you more details but that's all I have except there was a bike in the yard I think when u type look when u go outside not sure if it was right out front immediately after leaving house or another screen down

The only game I've found that sounds remotely like the game you're talking about is a game called Ground Zero (c. 1984):
http://gamingafter40.blogspot.com/2011/08/adventure-of-week-adventure-g-ground.html

Similarities:
Money in a dresser
Bike in the yard of a house

However, this one apparently starts you off in the living room, not the bedroom. And this appears to be completely text based without any graphics aside from the opening screen.

No money was found in the wallet that you get out of dresser and u play as the main character a boy who just woke up that's why u start in his messy room. It also could have been early 90s but I know it was either late 80s or early 90s there is about a million different games in that time frame I have not had the time or energy to sift through them all to find it plus all the sites that even have most listed like complete list of msdos games on wiki don't have cat. Sorting or anything helpful to make searching for it easier wish they didn't list it under each alphabetic list sorting that makes it even worse ppl need to get smart and list correctly chronilogical order would be way more helpful and era select instead of letter. But wiki always has lists all screwed up and unhelpful

There's a game called Shenanigans that was originally put out on the Tandy Color Computer (COCO). From what I have read of it, it may have been ported to IBM machines, but wasn't very successful. Also put out about 1984.

Have a look at that and see if those screenshots look familiar.

Someone already suggested that might be it I even downloaded and tested it, but it didn't start at the game start that I remember so that's definitely not it I kind of remember the graphics being slightly better as well, but I could be wrong since this is a childhood memory of back when nes looked cool lol
