I know someone out there besides me has played this game and might know the actual name of it from my detailed description of it.
I tested again and yes the link to my note on facebook explaining that that is set to public viability still works, don't know why it's not working for you
it's "public" in the definition of the term meaning "public to all registered facebook users" I don't have one. Thank you for copying it here.I couldn't really find anything fitting that description, there is a game called "Shenanigans" that sounds similar but doesn't have a lot of the elements that you describe.
Yeah I don't think that's it, but thanks for trying. I wish I had more details, but that's all I remember since I only got to play it for a short time.
I have been through every single game of that genre that I can think of and none of them fit that description. Can you tell us anything else about it?
The only game I've found that sounds remotely like the game you're talking about is a game called Ground Zero (c. 1984):http://gamingafter40.blogspot.com/2011/08/adventure-of-week-adventure-g-ground.htmlSimilarities:Money in a dresserBike in the yard of a houseHowever, this one apparently starts you off in the living room, not the bedroom. And this appears to be completely text based without any graphics aside from the opening screen.
There's a game called Shenanigans that was originally put out on the Tandy Color Computer (COCO). From what I have read of it, it may have been ported to IBM machines, but wasn't very successful. Also put out about 1984.http://www.old-games.com/download/1580/shenanigansHave a look at that and see if those screenshots look familiar.

That sounds a bit like Hampstead for Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum. My memory of the game is quite fuzzy, though. But I remember that you had to get to a bus or train and I do believe there was a part where you can get mugged when leaving your apartment. The game appears to be quite rare, so it will be hard to test it out, but if I come across it, I'll let you know.
