Now, I know I had a topic on here about my browsing history and how I wanted to restore it. This is a little different. All of a sudden, when I check the websites and webpages that I look up, theres nothing there. This started on Saturday. I went to check my browsing history to see what sites Ive been on and there was nothing there. It shows the history from 1,2 and 3 weeks ago fine, that hasnt disappeared yet, all the sites Ive been on are not shown. Can someone please help me?

Browser?

You've lost me. Browser? Are you asking what browser I have? I have Internet Explorer 9. I uploaded it a couple of weeks ago and it was fine until Saturday.

I think you mean you downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 9.

Go to Internet Explorer 9's options, on the General tab, make sure "Delete browsing history on exit" is unchecked.

If that doesn't work, try resetting IE9's settings:

Well, I tried to reset IE9's settings by using the link you gave me and it didnt work. I lost whatever browsing history I had from 3 weeks ago and when I check to see what websites I have been on today, nothing shows up. What should I do next?

Well, I have fixed it!!!  ;D ;D I got the browsing history to work. What I did was I clicked on tools, internet options and where it says browsing history, I clicked delete. Then I believe I checked off cookies, history and something else and it worked. The only thing is that I wish I was able to get back the history I lost for the past 3 weeks. I tried system restore but it never works for me.

Now Im having the same problem with my browsing history again. It just started today. I have a question. Its been about a week since I cleared my browsing history but I have A TON of stuff in browsing history. A lot of youtube videos and a lot of searches from different websites. Could it be that there is way too much stuff on there already after a week?

I have IE 9 and deleted just about everything I could. I deleted my cookies, form data, activeX, etc., my add-ons everything but my browsing history. Do I have to delete the browsing history again?

Ok, well I deleted my browsing history and it worked. Everything is gone but when I tried my browsing history after I deleted it, it worked. My question is why does it do that? Why do I have to keep deleting my browsing history? Is there anyway I can get around it? Is there anyway I can keep my browsing history w/o deleting it because its a pain because I lose all my sites and files.

The last time you lost your browsing History was because you logged into another User account...
Just wondering here...could this be the case again ? ?

Well, it was the same account. I guess the problem was I looked up a lot of stuff on different sites which obviously had a lot of pages etc.  I guess it was too much.

Your posts are very vague and lack any 'real' information

It just had started yesterday.

What did??

I just deleted the browsing history and everything is ok now. I was just wondering if I could somehow keep the browsing history just because when I deleted it, I lose my files and webpages and stuff.

You delete it, yet want to keep it ??

What files do you lose ?? Are you accessing websites through your history ? If so, why not just bookmark them, then when you delete your history you still have your websites saved.

Ok, well I deleted my browsing history and it worked. Everything is gone but when I tried my browsing history after I deleted it, it worked.

What works ? The 'history' ? Are you trying to say that the browser history does not work until you delete it and start from scratch?

I tried to explain it the best I could. It was just my browsing history was not showing up which meant my web pages and files were not showing up.

What did??

My browsing history had stopped and it stopped recognizing the webpages and files that I was on.
You delete it, yet want to keep it ??

What I meant was that when you click on internet options and it says delete browsing history it gives you different options to click on. You can delete your cookies, formed data etc. W/O losing your browsing history. Thats what I meant.
What files do you lose ?? Are you accessing websites through your history ? If so, why not just bookmark them, then when you delete your history you still have your websites saved.

Just the webpages and websites that I was on. Yes, I should bookmark more and I will.

What works ? The 'history' ? Are you trying to say that the browser history does not work until you delete it and start from scratch?

Yes, the browsing history works again and it now recognizes the webpages and websites that I have been on. Yes, the browsing history works AFTER I delete everything and start from scratch.

Hello, again. Im back!! Ok, now I want to tell you that Im not having any problem with the browsing history. I know that if its not showing up, I delete my browsing history and start from scratch and it works fine.

My question is that I used to be able to look up the webpages on my browsing history from up to 40 weeks ago and now my browsing history lasts about a week or two before I have to delete it and start again. How come I have to do that? I mean I went from being able to look up webpages from 20 weeks ago to having to delete my browsing history after about a week? Why is that happening?

FireFox change their settings with every update. I cant actually find what i've read (yeah, i know) but some newer versions of Firefox only retain history for 90 days. Keeping all this data takes up memory and as you can see 9 months (40 weeks) of history is going to be alot more data then just bookmarking relevant sites.

You are still vague with your posts. You say "I know that if its not showing up, I delete my browsing history".
If what is not showing up. The site you are looking for OR the whole history.

If it only remembers 90 days and what you are after was before then, it will be gone.

If a site is important to you, bookmark it and back up your bookmarks.

Ok, I'll try that but if you bookmark your sites your browsing history would be empty, right? That would be because you dont need a browsing history if you bookmark the sites, right?

My thing is that how can your browsing history work after 8 months and still have your webpages and websites?

I think that's what everybody was trying to help with, until you "solved" the issue of your disappearing histories by deleting them, which seems to sort of defeat the purpose.

For the record, my FF history on this laptop goes back to July... But I never use the History feature, because it's a pain to navigate in firefox.

I have yet another dumb question. Could the reason why I have to delete my browsing history so much is that I have two users yet only one computer. In other words, when I turn the computer on I have two names I can log into, JACK or JACK Catalano but I only have one computerl Do you think thats the reason why I have to delete my history so much? Should I get rid of one of my user names? How would I be able to do that?

I have a question. How come I have to delete my browsing history after a week or two? I used to be able to wait 10 or 12 weeks before I had to delete it and now I have to delete the browsing history often. Why is that? Can somebody help me, please?

And yes, I do bookmark pages but still, once I delete the history, I have to start all over again typing in passwords for sites and typing in websites etc.

Jack, If I remember correctly you do not use favourites / bookmarks do you? You instead use the history...

Mistake NO1 ^

Now, all that screwing about with your system, using system restore, clearing the history leads me to assume user fault. Also you seem to ignore given advice and just repeat what you have done before... this will get you nowhere.

Unless I missed something, you didn't reinstall IE...  SO DO IT http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

The link that you gave me, I used. It mentions Microsoft Fix It Center which I used and everything is fine based on  using Microsoft Fix It Center

I wanted to show you something. When I look at my Add-Ons, there are a couple with numbers that are listed. So here it is:

Real Networks Inc.                                        Load Time        Navigation Time
          Realplayer Download and Recording        0.01s
Symantec Corporation
          Symantec Intrusion Prevention               0.02s
         Symantec NCO BHO                               0.00s                     0.03s
         Norton Toolbar                                       0.04s

Now based on what I just posted above, would this be the reason why I keep losing my browsing history?? I would like to keep realplayer and Symantec but what should I do??

Im not ignoring everyones advice, its just I dont know what the *censored* Im doing. Everything is foreign to me. Like I mentioned earlier, the problem is that I was able to see my browsing history from 20-25 weeks ago before and now its not even a week and I have to delete my history because it wont acknowledge the webpages and websites that Im on. Why is it doing that? How come I used to be able to see what websites and webpages from a month or two ago and now if I dont delete my history every 2 weeks Im lucky.

Use another browser if IE gives you so much confusion. AND remove Real Player so as to avoid any unknown zip files that you have been mentioning being downloaded to your PC.

Now, Im on the computer now and my user account is Jack Catalano. Now, Im going to delete the other account which is Jack. Now all the info. that I have saved or bookmarked in the Jack account, will I lose that once I delete the account?

Is there anyway I can transfer the information from the Jack account to the Jack Catalano account?

I might get shot here cause it's not a real answer but I never use IE because of those weird issues. Honestly, try to use other browsers. They tend to be better with this kind of feature. *censored* I just hate IE altogether for lots of reasons. if your hesitating cause other browsers doesn't work if its not IE then firefox for example got awesome extentions for IE compatibility.
