All downloads say they contain a virus and are deleted
    « on: September 23, 2011, 02:11:17 PM »
For the past two weeks when I try to download any update, when the security scan finishes, it always says it contains a virus and is deleted. I just tried to download the Microsoft malicious software tool, and the security scan says it contains a virus. We are on a Dell and have been using Zone Alarm for the firewall, AVG for antivirus, Spybot, CCleaner, Ad Aware, and the Microsoft tool regularly. Any ideas of what is causing this? Our Dell laptop on the wireless network running 7 with McAfee, which came with it, has no problems.

You are infected with what we commonly refer to as "scumware"....phony protection app that just wants your money...
1 of their main features is blocking any legitimate protection apps from running/updating...
