cranky chrome

im using the latest ver of Chrome and still annoyed when it comes to mouse clicks. There are times when the wrench button wont even pop up its menu. The more annoying here is that when i click on a tab to bring it to front, it closes the said tab. When using the scroll wheel to move vertically, all hyperlinks that the cursor touches will be opened in multiple tabs. The mouse works fine in all other apps though. Whats the prob here?

You've cited an article that's over 3 years old and was written when Chrome was still in the beta stage.  That's hardly a valid reference.  And, if you read the feedback posted on that article, you'll see a lot of disagreement from users who had tried Chrome.  And, see the browser stats at http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp  Clearly, Chrome has garnered a substantial user base.  So, to say Chrome sucks is just ignorant.

I suspect you have a mouse and/or manual dexterity problem with your mouse, not a browser problem.  All the issues you've mentioned can result from pressing the wheel on your mouse instead of pressing the left button.  So, you need to carefully analyze how you're handling your mouse and perhaps you need to determine whether your mouse has malfunctioned, although I suspect this is a user issue, not a mouse defect.

I wish people would stop defending their favourite browser.etc.  It's down to personal preference, I use Chrome mainly, however many of my friends/family use Firefox or even Internet Explorer, I don't go around telling them to change or that it sucks - I may tell the person that alternative browsers exist but not tell them that what they use sucks and should be replaced with what I like.  It's their computer and they can use the browser that they want.

Now can we stop with the fanboy talk and get on with helping to fix the problem!

matter of fact, the mouse is new, replacing the one dat gone kaput. Its working fine in all other apps except chrome. Tried using another mouse and chrome remains cranky. The cursor involuntarily creeps on any part of the chrome screen. Its only on chrome i get these pointer problems.

I'd still stick with ffox until it got crowded with unwanted toolbars installed as bundle with other progs, which refuse to be hidden. I even stopped upgrading ffox because my addons wont work with the latest ffox ver. Just have to use chrome because ffox freezes when i try logging on online banking acct. For the time being, i use keystrokes to navigate chrome and the mouse IS just for clicking. Silly :p

A cursor is a blinking black vertical bar, as seen when you type a reply here in the forum.  It does not appear on web pages except where you're doing something that requires typing a message or response, such as in the forum.  So, do you really mean cursor or do you mean the normal mouse pointer?

This isn't a fanboy issue...although i can see why you may have concluded that...
It's about solving the issue...not which browser is best...

Have you tried reinstalling your browsers to make sure that is a software issue you have there? Online banking could also mean vulnerable to certain infections or hacking so make sure your protection softwares are updated.

oh yes and that too.. Is chrome a secure browser to open critical pages like online banking? I mean my twitter and email got hacked days after opening them via web browser (on chrome); so this remains a concern for me. Im currently on avira with webguard on, the service works on ffox. But i dunno if it extends to chrome since it never warned me since day 1.

Tried reinstalling chrome, it cleared *some* of the pointer anomalies except it still creeps diagonally to the left and there were still times when the center wheel scroll goes crazy opening any link on its way.

Do you know what Auto Scroll is?  Do you know what the Auto Scroll icon looks like and how Auto Scroll works?  Do you ever see the Auto Scroll icon in your browser window?

All 3 known or popular browsesr today are better. What comes in between browsing are your up to date Antivirus and a Firewall. I have actually posted in this section which maybe related to your concern. About additional feature for Avira Personal in IE 8(my currently running version).

Yes.  Do you really think a browser that is being used on millions of computers now would be insecure?  Keep in mind a big part of the security with financial sites originates from the website by them requiring a secure connection, as indicated by https, not http, in the browser's web address box.   When you see https, that means the website is using encrypted communication to protect the data being transmitted between the website's server and your computer.  Most browsers will also show a lock icon, either at the bottom of the browser window or beside the web address with the lock appearing in a locked status when in https mode.
