Recently i have been having trouble accessing certain websites that all seem to have a common theme. I can access things like facebook, google, stream video, youtube etc.. But the types of website that wont work are all World of warcraft related such as wowhead.com. wowikki.com. wow heroes mmo champ etc. I have 2 pc's attached One i use all the time to play wow and surf etc and the other one is my wifes which does nothing ( she ends up using my computer) I have tried to access these sites on her computer also. I have tried it on firefox, IE8 , crome and none will access them. However i have 2 android mobiles that can access the net pretty well and these sites will work (albeit quite slowly) but they do work. I went into security settings and have allowed access to everything as far as i can see. I am sorry if i sound vague in my description but i am using my work computer as some tech help sites also have issues being loaded. I thought of reformatting my pc again but if thats not the root of the problem id prefer not to have to do that at this stage. A website i was able to get on briefly talkes about a proxy, but as i dont really know what one is i doubt i have set one up by accident. I also saw a website talking about CMFP? maybe something about amounts of allowable packets of data to be allowed through my network. I can't think of something i have done that may have cause this No single upgrade of hardware or software i have installed, and it seemed to be one day it worked fine, for the next few days it hiccuped a bit , now it wont access it at all, timed out or just sits there with nothing. I stop the page loading and open something else i know works eg facebook and it pops up in seconds.
Please help me as its getting pretty annoying. If people want to email me rather than post replies here as i can more easily respond to you that way. Cheers

Some tips about Internet connection. Timeouts may be caused by lost packets. You can hit the F5 key to force a refresh and see if that helps. Some routers and computers become poor performers after being on for a few hours. You turn off both for a few minutes and turn the back on. Somethings that works. In fact, that was what AT&T support tells their customers. Do you think there's a chance that websites not working may be a result of some malware or something that's screwed up the pc without you knowing? just wondering

Ok i have tried resetting the modem even back to factory settings etc and it still occurs. also cleared browser cookies and cache. I use AVG as my virus protect and use adaware for malware and nothing has been picked up. I doubt it is an issue with connection speed as i can play games online with low ping and other sites work fine, because it seems to be a particular type of site EG wow related there must be some other underlying issue.
What happens when you open your browser and enter 50.97.76.228 in the address bar? what does that do? i put 192.168.0.2 to access router settings is this similar?
Also the fact that its not just my computer but others on the network that are having this problem i would assume its a network setting rather than a system setting but i could be worng.
ill do a few more things tonight and check in.
Cheers, Knyght

If others on the network are having the same issue then it's the network...
Who maintains this network ? ?
