thanks for all the help you guys. I really appreciate it. I did everything I was told to and I still could not connect to the internet. So I got frustrated and gave the laptop away. I gave it to someone I know and I told them if they can get someone to fix it, be nice enough to give it back or I'll just get another one.

That's too bad. It might not even be related to the laptop itself.

Down in the lower right portion of your screen there is an icon "wireless network connection" . Right click on it and select "repair" . That will open a window. Let it do it's thing and report back the results. Also have a look at "available networks" and tell us what it finds. truenorth
