When i try to type at symbol all i get is 2 or "

Your question is perfectly clear, don't worry about the above post. Did this just start or has it always been this way? Does it happen in all applications or just one? Does the same thing happen in safe mode?

it just happened . i was about to send an email to a new site and it showed up incorrectly .

i have restarted and still same problem . I worry that it is something that i have stupidly pressed as i am quite an amateur on computers . About 1 hour before the problem arose it was working fine """2222 . Just checking and as you can see the problem still exists .

I apologize for delay in replying but on different time zone and sleep caught up with me . Yes i depress the shift key as normal and press 2 and still no success , all that comes up is ".

I have not tried another keyboard as it is not available . Regarding formats i have tried it on email sending and just typing it generally to no success . Am not sure if that answers your question . It happened early last night and i am in rural India ,so in a short time about to go looking around local area to see if anybody can assist me . Await your reply before going off . Thanks in the meantime for  your help and sorry about my replies but i am not unfortunately very computer savvy .

See if you can borrow a keyboard to test it out in the meantime...
