I get the following message below it seems like it does not even exist and I tried both Firefox and Internet explore: The connection has timed out The server at www.google.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Turn off both your modem and if you have one your router... Wait one minute and turn them both back on...
Wait 3 or 4 minutes and see if it works now...

Just does not respond to google.com it works to yahoo.com and if you put mail.google.com it will connect and all other ip addresses work, even in the search box option for choosing a search provider if you select google it will not work, I was just wondering if you you use Earthlink if they could block it? And I deleted cookies and file's in internet explorer.

I tried running setup for firefox without deleting old copy of firefox and it does not help. It seems like on the machine where it works when going to different sites once in a while it will tell you this site is a security risk do you want to continue and on the machine that will not load google it never seems to ask this anymore I may have either added to many add ons or plugins. I don't see any options to check that would make any difference.

That can get murky, I believe. If you wanted to keep your "old copy of firefox", trying another browser such as Chrome or Opera is probably a better approach. Why are you still using IE6?

The best way to fix is probably delete firefox completely then reinstall. I just have IE 6 so it is there if firefox is not acceptable as some apps require using firefox, that and I really do not like 7,8, or 9.

Will some of the new IE explorers will not work on XP service pack 2 and takes to long to download and setup so I use 3.6.3 firefox which seems to work real good.

I uninstalled my fire fox browser and reinstalled and still no access to google even installed IE 7 no access to google. I believe the problem is in the XP operating system somewhere. I did try running without a fire wall and did not help, if there is something from preventing access to google in my computer how would you go about finding it?

I suggest you run the Fix it tool found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 to reset the Hosts file back to the default. This may not resolve the issue but it's worth a try. Or, you can open the Hosts file with Notepad to view it and manually edit it, as explained at the above link.

No protection except what comes on the XP disk. I am going to try the fix it tool above mention. I did put google ip address 74.125.236.81 and it takes you to there search page but when you go to bottom of page and click on home page you get nothing.
