IE9/Adobe Flash Player question

Hi To Everyone,

Sometimes when I try to watch a news video, youtube video etc. on IE9, I will immediately get a message indicating that I can't watch it unless I download and install Adobe Flash Player 11.  I have done this many times.  Each time it tells me that it has installed successfully.  Then the next time I am using IE9, trying to watch a news video or similar I get the same message again--- install Adobe Flash Player.  What is happening each time I download Adobe Flash Player to IE9 that apparently causes it to disappear even though it states it has been successfully installed.  What can I do to keep it working for the next time it is needed?  I also have Chrome and Firefox and I do not have this problem on those browsers.  In fact, sometimes during the download to IE9 it will state that it is already installed on Chrome.  My computer uses Windows 7.

Is it only on a particular website? Can you post the link?

No, it is not a particular web site, it just seems to not play any videos in IE9 when it comes to news, you tube etc.  I went to my control panel, add/remove programs and it says Adobe Flash player 11 is installed on this computer.  I also went to the Adobe download center and it states IE9, Chrome and Fire Fox all use version 11.1.102.55. of Flash Player.  On that same page it says Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55 is installed on this computer.  This is weird.  The computer says it has the program, Adobe says the computer has the program, but only when on IE9 does it keep asking to download the same thing.  Is something blocked or turned off that can be unblocked/turned on on IE9?

Is disable addons checked in IE ?

Can you tell me what steps to take to do that, check enable/disable add ons in IE?

Do you have Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player versions 11.xx.xx in your add or remove programs?

yes, both are there.

If you open Programs and Features (in Control Panel), you should see two instances of Adobe Flash Player installed since you have 3 browsers.  For IE, you should see Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX.  For Firefox and Chrome, you should see Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin.  Do see both in Programs and Features?

Yes, they are both there exactly as you indicated they should be.

I would try downgrading to IE8 then go back to IE9 update after the problem is cleared. It may be  a website or your Windows that is causing the problem.

If you go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ with IE, does the web page confirm you have the latest version of Flash Player installed?

Yes, I am thinking this is something I will just have to get use to on IE 9.

Problem solved.   I went to IE in the start menu and clicked on it.  In the right hand upper corner is the symbol for  "Tools".  I clicked on that and then clicked on  " Manage".  There was a list of programs that could be enabled or disabled by clicking on them.  Surprise, surprise... there were among the programs listed two programs for Adobe that were disabled.  I clicked on each one and enabled them.  Now, I have all types of videos playing on IE 9.  They are also still working on Chrome and Firefox.

I always thought that if flash player is disabled, IE would remind you of the add-on is just disabled and not to download.

That would certainly have made this "mystery" much quicker to solve.  No,  I never got that kind of question/message.  It just kept telling me to download Adobe flash player, and then of course it wouldn't work.  This computer is only 6 months old.  I am guessing this was a factory default setting because I never turned Adobe Flash Player off or "disabled "it in IE9 after I first purchased it or set it up.
