Mark Solved!!
« on: February 10, 2012, 09:14:12 AM »
Hello!! I thought I use to have the option to mark a topic I started as solved.
I don't seem to see that option any more. Have I done some thing to lose that option or am I just dreaming it existed!

To reiterate, a MODERATOR will come along soon a remove all reported spam. There is no need to ask anyone else and no need to worry. If someone does make the mistake of clicking on it, when it is obviously spam, then that is a individual issue. People click on rubbish all the time.

Hi! Thank you friend. Sorry if i panicked. I have never had that happen to me before and I have been on a lot of forums. MBAM told me it blocked out going and so not knowing what was going on, I panicked. Was information trying to get out of my PC??
You say it's spam. Is it dangerous to click on it. You told me not to, so I'm not.
This is some thing new to me. I just clicked on pateexapymm's topic and MBAM went nuts. Scared me
Thanks for your reply friend!!
PS Thought I should report it, and that's what I tried to do! Shouldn't Computer Hope found that?? Why is it taking so long to delete?

Because only Mods can remove it, there are no mods online yet !! All the mods on this site are not only very knowledgeable and fair, but also quite efficient. I'm sure it will be the first thing they do as soon as they're online.

There are a few people who register here just to post spam, links etc etc !!  If looks dodgy, DO NOT click.

I'd run scans to be sure!

Why did MBAM block this IP address. Was information trying to get out of my PC.

Not sure, to be honest. My 'guess' is that it was trying to install something, maybe a tracking cookie or something more sinister, but MBAM picked it up. Personally, as well as security features on my PC, i also safe surf. Ask yourself, do people coming to a computer help forum to post links directing you to 'supposed' *censored* site, seem trustworthy to you. The answer is usually No.

There is an Urban legend:
'You can get infected by just clicking on a link.'

There is a rural legend:
You don't get infected by just going to a website for a look.

Are you from the country OR the city?

Right answer: Yes!   ;D

Ok friend! Thanks for your reply. I have MSE for anti-virus. I have MBAM running in real time. I have superantispyware to run on demand. Also have GMER. Do you think i should run all of them. I really think MBAM blocked it.
I also surf safe. I use WOT. I also have several image back ups that I can restore to, so not to worried.
Spam doesn't worry me nor does a tracking cookie. This is the first time I have ever had this happen while opening topics on this forum.
The only other time some thing like this happened was when I was on a Chinese forum. MBAM blocked them several times .I stopped going on their forum. I was told they were trying to use my PC as a proxy. Don't know if that was true. I goggled this IP address, and it's from Russia. Maybe they wanted to use me as a proxy?? That's above my pay grade :) Some thing I don't understand very well.
Back on tropic! Do you know why I can't mark my topics solved??

Where was it? I believe not every board has the "mark solved" feature. Clearly some boards are just for chit-chat etc and there isn't really any "problem" to be "solved".

Obviously sections like the games and off topic shouldn't show solved.

the "accepted helper" thing seems to be gone. Probably related.

Ok, nevermind, I still have it. Going to have to go with ST's response. Not all boards have solved/unsolved and mark solved.

However, those that do, only the Original Poster or "Accepted Helpers" (50+ thanks iirc) can mark it as solved.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
