Hi, My older laptop recently died. I've been trying to reinstall Windows 98SE and have found it impossible. My laptop has swappable Floppy disk/CD Rom bays (is that right?), so there's no way for me to boot from the Win 98 boot disk, and then install from the cd rom. PLEASE HELP!

Win98SE CD is bootable, no need for floppy disk.

What is make and model of laptop? CDROM drive may not be bootable. I'm guessing it did not come with Win98.

It's a Compaq Presario, it's about 5-6 years old. It originally came with Win 95.

Probably closer to 10 years than 5 years. Boot with FDD and format new HDD. Then copy Win98 CD to hard drive. Then boot to hard drive and install Win98 from hard drive.
