Hi,
Sometimes in a couple of weeks my system performance shows that its using 70% of cpu, whereas none of the processes are using any of cpu.
I can feel that the machine is slow.
Simply restarting makes it fine.
Could it be spyware or anything.

The ultimate test is know your own pc........just like you motorcycle,car, or even your body.........you know when something is wrong.....look after it ,and it will look after you.....run tests......like sisoftsandra/adia32.....use a search engine to seek more knowledge.....

Yes i am aware of that list.
I'll scan someday, as it has 90 GB disk space.
So scanning takes about 1 day.
Has anybody seen this type of problem with a specific virus/spyware?

You should download and run ProcExp from http://www.sysinternals.com, you know where that is right? It will show you exactly what is using your CPU. |

This looks more feasible. Now i have to wait for that thing to happen  Sometimes you have to wait for bad things to happen, isn't it.  |

Nope,
I couldn't find CpuProc.
All that i could see related is PsList.

You will not find ProcExp by looking for CpuProc.
The one you need to look for is ProcExp, it's short for Process Explorer so that will help you remember its name.
Process Explorer v9.25
Process Explorer v9.2 shows a real-time CPU graph in its tray icon, adds CPU graph and I/O delta columns to the process view, reports 32-bit loaded DLLs for 32-bit processes on Windows 64-bit systems, and lets you view and edit process security descriptors. It also supports Windows Vista.

I don't know much about the hardware.
I can tell Ram - 256 MB & Cpu - 668 MHz
Anything else.

Please post as much information about your computer, operating system, and problem as possible, what happened prior to problems, etc. Too much info is OK, too little is pointless! Don't just say "My computer doesn't work. What's wrong?"

Yup, Its a Hp Compaq. Its 2799 MHz, not a old one. Nope, it hasn't happened since then. I am waiting for it.  |
