PC Magazine says 'Comcast, T-Mobile Win Ookla Fastest .'
Ookla, the world's largest operator of crowd-sourced speed tests, runs more than 5 million tests a day worldwide, and it drew from six months' worth of its database to see which is the fastest over all 50 states and more than 100 U.S. metro areas.
(Disclosure: Ookla is owned by Ziff Davis. which also owns PCMag.com.)Here are two other sources:
T-Mobile named ‘Fastest Mobile Network’ by Speedtest app maker OoklaT-Mobile has poured money into LTE network upgrades recently, and the work shows. Its “wideband LTE,” which improves LTE speeds without requiring new handsets, now covers 185 markets. The carrier is strongest in the urban Northeast and in Western cities.
America hates Comcast but it’s the fastest nationwide ISP we have. Comcast is not a well loved company in the United States. Somewhat paradoxically, however, Comcast also happens to be the ISP with the fastest overall speeds of any nationwide provider in the country. SpeedTest.net this week announced its first-ever awards for ISPs in the U.S. and it found that Comcast’s Xfinity was the fastest overall service with an average download speed of just under 105Mbps and an average upload speed of 12.7Mbps.
I never get that kind of speed.
