Is it possible to share files between Windows XP and Windows 7 with a Modem?

I have two PCs. One is running Windows XP SP3 and the other is running Windows 7.
My current ISP has provided a multiple-port MODEM (4 ports) for me. Two PCs are wire-connected to two of the four ports of this MODEM to access the Internet.
Every time when I need to access the Internet, I just have to input my ISP user ID and password.

Here is the question, I want to share some photo files in Windows XP with Windows 7,
I don't have a crossover cable, so is it possible to make use of this multiple-port MODEM to solve this question?

Well, online you could use a file sharing service like Google Drive to transfer/sync files between the two.  Or, if you're preferring a direct physical connection, I'd think simply using a flash drive would be easiest to transfer files.

The OP says the modem has four ports. So it is some kind of router.

Sharing folders between two Windows 7 machines with the new HomeGroup feature is an easy process, but the HomeGroup feature is not compatible with Vista or XP.  For this tutorial we are using Windows 7 x64 RC1 and XP Professional SP3 connected through a basic Linksys home wireless router.

That should work. You have to restart both computers. Expect it to take a few mins the first time for the computers to "know' each other.
