DC power jack broken or something else?
    « on: August 15, 2016, 05:51:45 PM »
I've been having problems charging my Samsung laptop, the charger has to be held in a certain position in order for it to work. I've tried two chargers, both with the same problem.

It seems like it's a problem with the dc jack but it was only replaced a few months ago (it was getting very hot all the time). Is there something else that could be going wrong? Is there any way to find out for certain?

First, gt a manual for that laptop and see if there is some defective way to repair the connection.
Workaround: Find some device that lets you charge the battery outside of the laptop. Of course, that would only be a temporary solution.

Friend back in college bought a dead same make/model laptop on ebay for $20 once with shattered screen to use for charging battery for his good laptop with destroyed power jack. He ended up with 2 batteries for the laptop that worked but power jack destroyed and while on one battery he was charging the other in the ebay dead laptop, then when battery low. Shut down. Swap batteries to now charge the weak battery and boot back up and run some more. Trick would be to finding a dead one cheap of same make/model that the charge circuit works in it. At college he had the 2nd battery with him to swap over to if needed, and then charge them when he was back home.
