when i play a movie on vlc media player it works fine but when i play it using either creative media player or nero the sound does'nt work, if it s a problem with the audio file, can some one tell me a free way to convert it to one that works.

I am assuming you are playing with a DVD. Did you update the softwear from your programs? Why do you need other players to play it if one works fine.. There is no way to convert a movie to another extension unless you downloaded. If you downloaded movies then we cant help you here.

well its not  amovie it a downloaded episode of invasion, i think i have to convert it mpeg or something becasue i want it to record ro a dvd, i think that because it does'nt play on those then it won't play on my dvd player.
so does anyone know how to convert?(the image is fine, just the sound)

please, help. Ths is a problem that has been frustrating me for ages. I just need ot know how convert the audio file from an .avi file so that it ic able to play on a dvd player, the current audio file is 'ac'  I think

With no more specific information than this there is nothing we can offer.  :-/

Please post as much information about your computer, operating system, and problem as possible, what happened prior to problems, etc. Too much info is OK, too little is pointless! Don't just say "My computer doesn't work. What's wrong?"

the file i want to convert is:
699mb, runtime = 41 minutes, bitrate = 1965kb/s, fps = 23.97,
audio codec:
ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc, bitrate = 384 kb/s (6 ch) CBR, fs = 48000 Hz

when i play it on nero before burning it does'nt have any sound, i think it may be to do with the audio file. will this be bale to play on a dvd player with sound?

yup, conirmed it!, the ac3.5.1 audio file does not work on the dvd player.
so, any one know what i should do?
