What make and model is this? What operating system? Did you remove the partition(s) from the hard drive before you formatted?

Please post as much information about your computer, operating system, and problem as possible, what happened prior to problems, etc. Too much info is OK, too little is pointless! Don't just say "My computer doesn't work. What's wrong?"

If the drive has had something done to the recovery partiton, you will never have any luck with this.

Didn't you believe this advice?

If the original owner registered the machine with HP you can contact them about a restore CD set that will work. If not, then you need to buy a new copy of Windows.

But wait, it gets worse.  :o :o :o

If you don't have a previous copy of Windows (a recovery CD does NOT count), then you (or your friend) have to pay $100 more to get the full version. You will not be able to use the upgrade.

This needs to be reported to admin! We have had problems in the past with them  stealing threads and responses from CH.

Jesus Christ that's spooky, I'm guessing they are stealing our threads and GX1_Man's posts. Note that the same person as GX1_Man on that forum is also an administrator?

I think it's just coincidence.

Yea thats why I like this site, theres no breaks between every handful of posts that disrupts your reading of the thread. lol and it just gives a cluttered appearance.

If you take time to look through that site, you just might find some of your own posts duplicated. If I remember correctly, that site is located in India. Apparently, they are to stupid to answer question and come here to get and steal CH material.
