window 98 blank screen

my daughter was "cleaning" her cookies when she finished and restarted the pc there is no desk top, no start menu nothing there is just the wallpaper. The only thing i can do is clrt, alt, del to shut down cpu. i cant use shortcuts on key board, or right click on mouse can you help me?

You probably had an "Active Desktop"

Right Mouse Click 0n Desktop

Open Display Properties.
Click the Web tab in the Display Properties window.

If you wish to disable Active Desktop make sure that "Show Web content on my Active Desktop" is unchecked.

somewhere along the line you have either lost your drivers or they are corupt...either boot to safe mode >re-boot pc keep tapping the f8 key load windows normaly...>or with win98 boot disk..reboot pc with it in when it boots at the a:\>scanreg/restore and scan for bugs...if you dont have firewall download one like sygate...
