LOL not @ you for not knowing but because it's like a history lesson for you and a memory for me  :D

I learned on DOS and the first OS I used was 3.1, which later got network capabilities : SHOCK!  :)
they called it windows for workgoups 3.11

And the whole of 3.11 took up 20-30MBs, ran happily on a 486 with 4MBs of RAM. :)

Dare I admit it :-?

I still run WFW 3.11 on a 486 with 4mb but with Dos 7.10a.  Bios date is 7.7.91.  Also have a couple of pc's so elderly they don't have a hdd and rely on 5" floppies.

Nothing to do with age..    just enthusiasm for keeping the old ones going for as long as possible.

funny only yesterday I threw out loads of 486 stuff, about 12 mobos, a few processors, about 40 sticks of ram, fans & coolers, about 20 assorted isa cards new in box
guess I thought I'd had them long enough

speaking of fans remember the 486 was the first processor to have a fan and heat sink on the processor

ahhh memory lane, is the best place to visit for a short break
