My floppy-disk drive has gone crazy!!!

Howdy, all.

Whenever I put a floppy disk into my Vaio laptop and try to access it (or save onto it), I get a message telling me that either there's not enough space on the disk (which there is) or that the disk may be damaged (which it isn't).  And it makes a funny, grinding sort of sound when my laptop attempts to read the disk.  What could it possibly be?  I certainly would appreciate any and all help.  Thanks.

Bad floppy drive, bad floppy cable, bad floppy port on motherboard in that order are the possibilities. How old is the machine? Was the drive used a lot? Do you have any kind of warranty?

Try reformatting the diskette before using it.

Did you drop the laptop?

Accept the terrible fate that is the death of the floppy disk and buy a key drive?

Well,I know you folks have stayed awake at night trying to figure out how a dog with a itchy behind can throw his whole body in an upright position,and scoot across the ground to scratch the itch using only it's *censored* muscles.

and spin my hair around and say"Your gonna kill me ain't you?"

A simple haircut fixed that problem.

street1- Yes,Dr.Raptor,my hair is incredibly thick and coarse and in the mornings when i get up I become dizzy from the weight. :-?
