Has anyone had problems with Spybot S&D Ver 1.4 not functioning properly with alerts, mostly Tea Timer Alerts pop up on the screen with an empty alert box or details for the alert, but no Buttons to select like OK or CANCEL. Not sure what the buttons in the alert say since I haven't seen them yet, but when placing the mouse pointer over the area, the pointer turns into a hand in 2 or 3 spots.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled with same results on 3 computers running Windows 2000 Pro SP4, Windows XP Pro SP2, and Windows XP Home SP2.

Also when downloading the updates for Spybot, it seems like there are many bad checksums, and I have to select alternate servers to get the update with a good update checksum.

Spybot 1.3 was very solid, but this version 1.4 seems to be very buggy. I have even tried redownloading it and got same results. So since then I have uninstalled it and installed MS Defender on my XP Pro system. Does anyone know if the support for Spybot has gone down hill or if some other company own it now that is making a junk product now???

I also do not use Tea Timer.  As far as downloading the updates for Spybot is concerned, I occassionally experienced problems with any version of Spybot; no difference in versions on this point.  The solution is simply to select a different download site.  By default, it shows "See-Cure #2 [Europe]".  If that yields a bad checksum, I find that one of the other European locations or TDS (USA) usually works.

So, no problems with version 1.4 here.  I use Immunize, as I did with version 1.3.

I agree with soybean here 100%...i've experienced checksum errors from all available sites.
Sometimes it is just a hit and miss procedure.

I frequently had problems with SeeCure also. I use SaferNetworking 2 Europe, or the one in the US and have had absolutely NO problems with these.

And you'll never hear me complain for the temporary glitches either as what they do is volunteer work....much like GX1_Man's ! !

Thanks everyone for your info .... Sounds as though I am the only one seeing the alert boxes though without any buttons...Maybe its a video driver issue, since both systems are using NVidia cards, a GeForce MX440 w/64MB Ram and the other a GeForce 6200 w/256MB DDR Ram. I will update the Geforce driver and see where that leads me...

Thanks again.... Dave

I very much doubt it's a video driver issue.

yup no change after driver update... I thought maybe driver since I have had games like DRIVER have the wheels missing on the cars and a video driver update fixed that.... I will grab a screen shot to show everyone what I see, next time Tea Timer alerts and shows missing buttons... Dave ;)
