I keep having this problem every couple of months

System:
MS XP
HP Prisario
on board LAN

I get the "Limited Or No Connectivity" on my main PC; I'm running a wirless to my kids homework computer and to my laptop, the both of them can access the internet with no problems, but the Main Computer the runs the wireless system and is connected to the DSL gives me  "Limited Or No Connectivity" (its like its blocked by something).  I've uninstalled the Zone Alarm with AV, rolled back to 3 days ago when I could access the internet, remove/uninstalled the new video card, but nothing has worked.  I'm computer challenged so please help   ;D.  This happened before and I fixed it by uninstalling the AV/firewall, but it didn't work this time.

Try plugging your computer into a different port in your router.

If you haven't already, reinstall your AV and firewall. You need 'em on DSL. Take a deep breath and say, "Screw you, Bill Gates, You don't know know where I want to go today!" ;D After you've done this, reboot the router by disconnecting the power for 3-5 seconds and reconnecting.

Sometimes XP thinks it knows more about what you want than you do. ;D

Ok, I've tried all and stil no luck; I've even gone as far as to assign an IP, subnet, Gateway and DNS also with no luck.  I tried to ipconfig /all and the black box flashes on the screen then disappears.  The only thing left is to see if my onboard lan is working, but I don't know how to do that.  Any suggestions?

The Computer now says I've now got a connection but it's still not letting me on the internet; as stated before my other computers get on with no problem.  Here's the settings:

IP address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254

Dns:  192.168.1.1

Go to a command prompt on a working machine.  (Start-->Run: type "cmd" [ENTER])  Do ipconfig /all there.  Repeat on the non-working machine.  Post results here.

Your IT expert at work is trying to blind you with science.  Thanks for that info; could you please repeat the exercise with the other computer?

Sorry Mr. Rob, I totally forgot to do the other 2 machines.  My twins were acting up and I was trying to hurry.  I'll post them late tonight (hawaii time).  Thanks again for your help.

Compare this:

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-11-D8-53-C7-43
       Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
       IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
       DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

To this:

       Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-11-50-65-54-52
       Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
       Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
       IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.2
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
       DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
       DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

Do you see the problem?

2k,

I'm computer handicap so help me along ;D; the biggest difference it the main I have to set the IP etc. because if I don't it won't see the connection.  I guess what I'll try to do is mimic the settings of the Laptop and change the Desktop to the following:

IP: 192.168.2.3
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS Server: 192.168.2.1

Is this correct?

I made the changes; but still says local lan connected but won't let me connect.  It looks for the page/pages but then goes to the white screen of death.
