1. Start with a query "baited" to attract answers. "I tried to install Windows but it says I need more memory".
2. You'll get some answers, eg "How much memory do you have?"
3. Reply with a seemingly confused answer eg "I have 40 GB memory".
4. People will reply, saying "That's not memory, that's your hard drive"
5. Answer saying, "My memory is MAXTOR 40 GB IDE"
6. People who haven't caught on yet may reply, telling you exactly how to check your physical RAM size. Bonus points will be scored for multiple paragraphs. Extra bonus points for screen dumps and links to memory checker websites.
7. Spin it out. Invent non-existent crashes, request extended tutorials, cast doubt on other poster's manhood, sexual orientation, knowledge, etc.
8. Bonus points if you can get the thread to span more than one page.
9 Extra bonus points if people start swearing at you.
10. Above all, delay telling people how much RAM you have.
11. Broken English will lend an air of verisimilitude to your posts.

Or am I just getting cynical?

I have some Maxtor and it only runs at 5200. Would replacing it with Seagate or Western Digital speed my computer up? My OS is MSWindows.  :-\

You need to uninstall SP2 and delete your registry.

See?... I know what you're doing!     You're looking to see who else is as old as you are,  right?

Ok....  I admit...  I know what you're talking about, instantly -  without having to Google it.     ;)

And me... Billie Joe MacAllister... Bobbie Gentry... 1968 or thereabouts.

I claim extra Old Saddo points for knowing it's spelled Tallahatchie.

Why is this nonsense in the Other forum?
I think it's more suited to Off Topic.
And why the rant?
If you don't want to help folks, no one is making you stay.
You're volunteering your time, leave if you don't like the people.
No one forces you to read the posts.
I agree with some of what you're saying, but I don't see why it's such a problem to you, I just avoid posts that are too stupid or lacking in info.

If asked,  I'd have said pre-1970,  so we're in the same ballpark.

Recently, I said essentially the same thing,  in reply to someone here that felt their time was being "wasted".
They replied, and obviously didn't understand that they are in charge of their time,  not the question askers/other posters.
I didn't waste my time responding further.   ;D

Tallahatchie Bridge is in Carroll County. This is where Porter Wagoner’s accident took place. That's'The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.

And Papa said to Mama as he passed around the black-eyed peas:
"Well, Billy Joe never had a lick of sense; pass the liverscuits, please."
