Slow Computer

My computer has been completely fine and fast for the last while, but about 2 weeks ago it became really really slow.  It takes like..5 minutes just to open up a program.  I ran AVG Virus Scan (which normally takes less than an hour to scan and it took like..100) and it found a Downloader.Agent virus in my startdrv.exe, but it can't delete it.  Could this be what is making my computer slow?  If so, how would I go about removing it?
My computer is Windows XP Professional.

When I try and download the SP1a it says "Setup has detected that the service pack version of the system installed is newer than the one you are applying to it.  You can only install this update on Service Pack 1."

After I clicked the START button on the ESET Online Scanner, this came up:
Your browser is not supported.
ESET Online Scanner is based on ActiveX technology and requires Microsoft Internet Explorer with enabled ActiveX controls. User has to agree to install ActiveX package signed by ESET.

If you use Firefox (or any other browser apart from IE), try using Trend Micro HouseCall.

ok so i did everything and I'm trying to post my logs, but it's saying that i can't because the file name is ".log" or something... but when I check it it says it's .txt ?

You have to open ".log" file in Notepad, save it as ".txt" file, and then it'll let you attach it.

Please download Combofix by sUBs from either here or here

Save Combofix.exe to your your Desktop.

1. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts. (from the keyboard select 1 and press enter)
2. When finished, it will produce a log for you.
3. Attach that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause your computer to stall


Then run a new HijackThis scan and attach it's log.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. ATF Cleaner.exe

Make sure that all browser windows are closed.
* Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
* Under Main choose: Select All and UNCHECK Cookies.
* Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser
* Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All and UNCHECK Cookies.
* Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
