Slow computer

Could someone look at my hijack file and let me know what I need to get rid of please

Before you proceed with the above advice, go Start>Control panel>Add\Remove, and uninstall MyWebSearch.
Post new HJT log.

     I removed the My Web Search and re-booted. Here is the H/J log file

It would be good to submit another HijackThis log after uninstalling the MyWebSearch.

Uninstall the copy of HijackThis you have and use the new version.


Download HijackThis.exe

Double-click on the installer you just downloaded.
Click on the "Install" button to install.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
Please do not change the default install location.
Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

Next click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button.
HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
In the top left of the notepad window click "File" > "Save As" name it hijackthis and then save it to the Desktop.
Please save the log as a text (.txt) file or .log
In your post, add the log as an Attachment

Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

1. Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.

2. Close all windows(!), except for HijackThis.

3. Put a checkmark next to the following HijackThis entries:

- O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/menusearch.jhtml?p=ZRYYYYYYYYUS

- O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/funwebproducts/ei/PopularScreenSaversFW BInitialSetup1.0.0.15.cab

4. Click on "Fix checked" button.

5. Turn off System Restore:

- Windows XP:
   1. Click Start.
   2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
   3. Click the System Restore tab.
   4. Check "Turn off System Restore".
   5. Click Apply.   
   6.  When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
   7. Click OK.
- Windows Vista:
   1. Click Start.
   2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
   3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
   4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
   5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
   6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C:")
   7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
   8. Click OK

6. Restart in Normal Mode.

7. Turn System Restore on.

8. Run HijackThis again, and post back its log back here.

     Computer seems to be a little faster now. What about these two?

You have a lot of startups, which slow down your computer. Some of those are not necessary.
I'll give some instructions in my next post.

Open HJT again, and put checkmarks next to following items (no files will be deleted from your computer; we'll only disable some programs from running as startups):
