The April bandwidth showdown

Thought it could be fun for the upcoming month of April to have a friendly showdown to see who transfers (download and upload) the most bandwidth in that month.

To log and keep track of your bandwidth we'll be using NetMeter, a utility I'd assume some of you already have installed on your computer. Additional information about this utility and a download for those who do not have it installed but wish to participate can be found on the below link.

Once installed, right-clicking in the window or on the icon in the Systray will allow you to gain access to the Totals. Within the totals is where you'll be able to see how much data you've transfered for the day, week, and month.

Would it be cheating to turn the cache file off for FireFox? That CH logo downloades as many times as I use the site in a day could really add up... (to about 1.98MB...)

I can only transfer 20GB a month without extra charges (fiber is a very shared connection, so, downloading a whole bunch of stuff can slow it down for others.. and when you have hundreds of people doing that, it can become a problem, but, it usually never goes below 10MBPS)

Pretty tricky turning off your browsers cache. I don't think it would be cheating, although I think it would be more interesting to use your computer as you normally would and browsing with your cache turned off isn't too normal.

1.65GB transferred over the last three days so far..

Depending on the day I can get a few gigs in an hour.  This shall be interesting  .

Dang! I just noticed this thread, and installed NetMeter. I'm waaaaaay behind.

I installed NetMeter on 3/17 only, but I managed, so far U/D at 8.43GB

Oh, I didn't notice, it's for April, so I'm OK.

Dang I'm impressed Broni with that much data transfer already. For the full month of March I'm at 495MB UL - 5.8GB DL - Total 6.32GiB

True. But we'll just go off what NetMeter is showing for the full month and everywhere has the same amount of time for a full month.
