Downloaded the free MS Powerpoint viewer from microsoft.com for a senior citizen on his computer but he can't open and pps files. Machine is a clone with 512 ram, running Xp Sp2. I have the icon on the desktop after installing and powerpoint is listed in the programs. I sent him some pps files and he is unable to open them. I deleted the download and tried again. Same results. Help!

Sorry if this seems obvious:
Did you install the PowerPoint viewer? After you download it, you need to install the view.

Second, if .PPT files are not being associated, then under the Start Menu, open the PowerPoint Viewer program and then find the file you need to open. When you open the PowerPoint Viewer, it asks for the file that you want to view.
