For the month of September we thought it would be interesting to see what color your computer is (if it has more than one color select the overall dominate color). In addition to voting this month feel free to add your computer specifications to our new computer specifications feature found in your profile information (click the above Profile button and then Forum Profile Information). Adding this information will create a link as you can see to the left in my profile.  Finally, feel free to talk about how good or bad your computer is, post pictures or links to pictures of your computer, and any other information you believe others may enjoy reading about.

All past monthly polls and results can also be found on the Computer Hope poll page.

My primary computer at the moment is a Dell XPS computer, which is primarily silver. Because my setup is spread throughout my office it's difficult to take a picture of everything with one shot so I'm posting a stock Dell picture.

My Primary Computer (a laptop...) is moreover Gray than it is Silver, but, Gray wasnt an option, so, I went with Silver.

My server is white, my old server is beige, the family computer is black, my first laptop was white (1993 was when it was made...), my second and third laptops were black, my palmtop is gray, my PDA phone is black, my first computer was beige/white-ish, as my second computer was white, third family computer was white as well.

Edit: Changed vote to Gray

See my puter specs listed but - silver with black front panel HP 4600.

Been in service about two months or more now - and bought from a scratch'n'dent section in techforless.com - saving 53%.  Just case ding and badly fitting side panel.  The HP site has info on the machine still I think.

Once I got Vista off (  Wink ) and XP Pro on it has (knocking hard on wood) performed very satisfactorily.  Added 2nd HDD and SCSI card from old machine (a custom, CPU expired on it).

My backup machine is a Lenovo 3000 J105 8258 - Tower - 1 x Athlon 64 3200+ / 2.2 GHz - RAM 1 GB - HD 1 x 250 GB - another saving thru a scratch and dent (open box) ....... serves well and is usually kept as a close mirror to primary HP.

My primary computer is mostly black, with silver trim and a blue power LED.  My keyboard is black with blue backlight, my mouse is black with a silver and rust colour on top, and my mousemat is black..  My monitor is silver with a black stand.  I didn't choose these things to be colour coordinated, they just turned out that way.
My laptop is mostly silver/grey, and my family's computer is black.

To be honest I couldn't care less about the colour of my computers and components, how well they work is far more important to me.  I'd have a beige case if  there was one that suited my needs though as I like that colour.

i have two computers...the first one's motherboard died so i use some of the old ram chips from that on my computer(the ram chips are of the sam speed and technology as the ones i have in my current machine) i also use the old monitor from the first computer to have a dual monitor sys on my current one and i soon will sell the other working components on ebay(like the CD-ROM drive and the floppy drive.)   Wink (like to reuse components and get the most out of them)

my current machine is black as you can see in the picture(note: i had to take down my other monitor due to space limitations) it uses the old mouse from my older dead dell(the one with the dead motherboard) and it has a View Sonic 17" CRT monitor.

Mine is black, which is my favorite color.  My mouse is a black Microsoft Intellipoint optical wireless mouse with click-less scroll wheel.  It also has two thumb buttons, and a good reception range.  I like to watch movies and stuff from my bed, which is about 8 feet from my receiver.  My monitor is a black Dell 1024x768 flatpanel LCD monitor, with a small set of speakers mounted underneath.  I love this because it provides a secondary volume control I can change even inside a game with no lag whatsoever Smiley.  My black keyboard came with the computer, and is okay for everything but Frets on Fire.  Read why here: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,64315.15.html.  My black tower is sitting on a shelf above my monitor.  I also wear black shirts, have a black IPod, and love Black Sabbath Grin.

Its silver underneath. The CoreDuo sticker is hanging in there fine...

One of my teachers just got a new Dell OptiPlex with a ~2GHz (Somewhere around there, I dont remember the exact number) AMD X2, and 4GB of RAM from the ESD.
Thats one fancy computer for school... from the ESD. Very fast.

My main laptop is an off the shelf mid range (mainly black) Toshiba. It works just fine as is but i might upgrade a little later.

I have two others (packed up at the moment) one is an absolutely knackered laptop, which was free, poor specs but works fine with Linux.

I'm also building a desktop for free, it was a challenge from a friend. I've collected some of the stuff i need i'm just on a hunt for  working motherboard.

Will do.
It'll be in a kind of enclosure under my desk, but also on a sort of drawer so it can slide out, otherwise the components wouldn't be accessible.
What I'll actually do is start a work log thread so people can follow it if they want to.

I chose other, my laptops black+silver+blue, the back of the screen is blue, the bottom half is black, the upper half and inner frame of the screen is also silver.

Laptop:

my desktop however...  Its sort of in need of a new case... Well, truthfully, its REALLY in need of a new case. Don't have the money for one though. The desktop pic was taken with my laptops integrated webcam. I'll take a picture of the inside if anyone want to see how crowded it is with the 8800GS in it. Oh, the thing dangling over the DVD RW drive and out of the optical bay its self is the power button. There's no power LED other than the LED fans in the PSU/Chipset fan. I think the noise is enough of an indicator even if your half deaf to tell you its on.

On the side note of dual and quad core processors, there fairly useless with most apps and OS's, most apps and OS's only use one core, they don't support multi-threading. But the dual cores are mostly still cheap and better than an ole P4, and we all don't want to go back to the days of wondering if your P4 Prescott was going to get hot enough to scramble eggs while playing a game.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop.  It is sort of night-sky blue.  I didn't pick the color, but I do love it.  A friend and I are into Nancy Drew, and she would often speak of Nancy's blue roadster, and I imagine my laptop is the same color as Nancy's car.

Okay, I have to get in the picture game now too...

Used my PDA phone for the pictures... sorry for the horrifying quality.

(Actually, its all mechanical, but, whats the difference?)
Currently my project is to fix the A key, the head of it went flying off one day... I need to get some JB Weld.

I can totally play games on it if I wanted to, you just have to hold the variables in your head.

All these darned pics  Wink  Grin - guess I'd better disgrace myself and show my total mess desk area! Tidyness is not my strength!!  Crap pic - available light - real quick.  Lenovo backup is out of shot along to left - doesn't look a lot different (or tidier!)..

HP 4600 tower on right - well above which is Pixma 3000 - and higher up still on right are two externals.  Box on tower unit is temporary (was meant to be - it holds all CD's pertinent to HP install).

Twin Acer wide screen LCD mons, HP keyboard, old faithful web cam under right one.  Above right on main one is Kingston USB hub.  Upper right of keyboard is Direcway 6000 satellite modem.

The monster steel frame is suspended from ceiling and used to hold a heavy weight NEC Accusync CRT deal - it works tho to support the Acer - other Acer is on a lashed up deal made out of scrap.  Cheesy

There ya go - everything else is mostly junk and paper (sometimes those notes taken on scrap which you never can find again!)

(now goes to hide in embarrassment!  Tongue )

Dead Reckon I got go on a date with you for that lap top, its beautiful Cheesy

The laptop cost me $2,200, got it with my SSI check before it flopped. My dad'd kill me if I gave it away.. He'd be on a rampage  Shocked . I don't really even like its performance that much truthfully.

I chose the model 'cause I liked the blue on silver on black look over the funny looking XPS's. I love my laptop Grin, wish I had a better GPU than the 8600M GT though.

Nice pic Zylstra, thanks for sharing. Is that monitor display bad or is that just the camera catching the refresh rate on that?

My camera is just seeing the refresh rate... which I think its 80 hertz... (Increased it to get rid of the flicker...)
The monitor is a little dim... but, still works quite well. I have IRC and email on that monitor, sometimes Instant Messenger.

I have a second desk in the basement... when I was down there, it was quite cluttered, but, my main desk stays clear...

Once I get more boxes cleared out of my office area, I will be able to put another desk in, and maybe even have a place for my server... running downstairs just to start something in its own terminal session is annoying.

Looks good and custom I'll add you to the SBCC.

As far as reviving an old thread. It's really not an issue for this type of thread since it's a continuation and not a new start. Something like a user reviving an old computer question with a similiar question is something that could be complained about. Smiley
