Sorry for the delayed response.  The forums went down last night and I wasn't able to respond sooner.

At this point, you should be virus free and I don't believe an infection is the cause of your Safe Mode issue.  It could perhaps be a driver or hardware problem, although it's hard to say without more information.  If you're able to transcript the writing displayed on your screen, it may prove helpful.

Now, as for protection, all I have to tell you is that you should get a firewall ASAP.  You're vulnerable without a good firewall and the one that comes with Windows simply isn't enough.  So, you may want to look into getting ZoneAlarm, Sunbelt, Comodo, or some other well-known free firewall.  You should then disconnect from the internet, disable Windows firewall, and install your new firewall.  If you would like more help with this, just let me know.

If you can get more information regarding Safe Mode, I'll do whatever I can to help.  Or you may want to head over to the Windows section of Computer Hope, as they may have more troubleshooting ideas than I do.  You're also likely to get more response over there because it's not quite a specific subject.

well, i have AVG now, and it seems to be working pretty well, no popups, and internet is running pretty fast. Im not really worried about the safe mode thing, my uncle does work with computers, nd ill just have him look at it some time.

I would like to say thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated. I decided to clear out all the old programs to make my computer run faster, and lessen the chance of getting a virus.

I hope you have good luck, and a few good things happen to you [;
