Cant connect please help!

okay, we have 2 computers. We have an SMC wireless router used for internet. B4 we could run the net on the one computer (pentium II) and it had windows 95. Somehow it got screwed up and we installed windows 98 and now wen we try and connect to the net it wont go. BUT... if we plug it right into the wall and bypass the router it will work. We have tried downloading some drivers from the SMC site and this has not helped. We get some mesages in teh beginning wen starting up that we are missing some drivers or something with the Ethernet card. If anyone can help me PLEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!! HELP ME! lol thnx
