Wow! Sun is making progress...LOL
It installed pretty quickly, under 1 minute. Usually, it was taking at least couple of minutes.
It removed my older version, but I'm wondering....some people would have several older versions installed...curious, if it'll get rid of those, as well.

I think the toolbar is only included if you get Java through the Sun Download Manager.  I noticed it (MSN toolbar) when I was updating the wife's computer today.  You can, of course, opt out of it prior to installation.

Not sure on if it removes anything before v6u10 though.
I don't know how far back it goes, but my wife had 6u6 and the newest update didn't remove it.

Yep...just showed up today on my XP machine....and the opt out is there.
At least that's something...although we all know most don't read any of that stuff anyways so i still see the #'s game working in there favor...

I asked couple of user, while doing HJT logs, and it looks like it removes only Update 10. Maybe next updates will remove everything from Update 10, up.

I have my Vista machine set to auto-update and had this a request for Java to update popping up just about every day for weeks even though I HAD updated NUMEROUS times.  QUITE irritating.
What do y'all think about all these "updates", in general?  I don't trust 'em!!!  Why would I need to update every day?  And I hear ya about the tool bar "updates".  I used to be with AOL...  and then Yahoo...  and it seemed like they were constantly wanting to update stuff the I didn't think probably needed updating so I didn't go along with it if I could help it.  So...  What are they installing, anyway?
I figured it could be summed up, somehow with "Follow the $$".
                                                                        THANKS!

Close all web browsers. Right click the Internet Explorer icon and choose Run as Administrator. Now visit www.java.com and download then install the new version.
