I use Avast! Home Edition coupled with Spybot Search And Destroy.  Seems to work pretty well.

Tried AVG for about a year and a half, but it always took so long - slowing my laptop down in the process. Then I rebuilt a desktop and decided to go for a change - Avira. This AV program seems to run more quickly, although the 'updating' takes a little getting used to ... plus it'll pop up a window that notifies you of necessity of an update. AVG used to give error messages when program was 'out of date', and THAT was a little annoying. I like Avira so much better I threw it onto my laptop as well.

One Care is being abandoned by MS in sometime this Summer...you should start looking at some of the FREE alternatives mentioned here such as Avira Avast or AVG...

Do NOT use more than one A/V app at the same time...they will bang heads.

Your missing out the worlds most secure (and for that reason it is probably the worlds most annoying because of all the alerts you get) AV. Zome Alarm!

True. One day I was scanning (and I didn't do anything to do this) and it picked up something like 10700 Trojans. They weren't real though. I did have to do tonnes to get my computer working again. Aside from that, it is very secure. At least for me it is.

21 days later, I realize I kind of missed this topic...

I use AVG on my laptop right now, and Avast on most of my other computers and computers I configure for people.

I use Kaspersky Antivirus.
I purchased it at a discounted price and haven't been disappointed with it at all.
Its settings are very customizable to make it very strict with applications and processes (asking if you want this program to run or if you want this program to copy files ect...) or you can relax it a bit and use it as a normal user.
I am extreamly pleased with Kaspersky.
It doesn't take up many resources and it has various scanning modes and excellent malware protection.

The only downside that I can think of is, strangely enough, database updating takes up an incredible amount of my CPU usage. No idea why...

hello,
i have a question about databases if anyone gets this im kaitlyn123.  :P
::) :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(
