Author Topic: i fdisked and cant retrieve drivers  (Read 736 times)

I fdisk"ed" my computer yesterday and installed my os - windows 98se -  and my cable internet, and a router.

Now my screen will only accept 2 or 16 colors... I cant find the drivers or whatever i need to fix it to a 256...

Can anyone help?

It sounds like you have no drivers installed for your video card, check in your device manager and see what it says.

device manager has a lot of places to go ... and i've been to almost all of them... under other devices it shows 2 with yellow exclamaition points. i also went to monitors and i have 4 plug and play and one mx50 ....

what now?

and thanx for the first bit of info at least i know im on the right path...

In your device manager, look under display adapters for an entry, right click on it & select properties.

Have you got the CD driver disk for video card?  Open the box and find out the make of your card then download the driver from the net on another computer if yours is not ready for the net

Without knowing more about your computer, try start, settings, control panel, add new hardware and look for video adaptor to add in.

You could also download 'belarc advisor', run it & you may find out what your video card is.

i want to thank all of you...i got my video back and now i cant find my sound

i am also wondering ... if hp was deleted in fdisk why is it the first screen to show upon booting the hp screen?

anything would be helpful

You haven't got any sound drivers?
You should be able to fix it the same way you fixed your video drivers.
The HP thing is probably splashed up from the bios, I'd guess you could turn it off if it bothers you.

It's burned into BIOS and not located on hard disk drive which you fdisked.

type dxdiag in the run box..........for more info sound.....or...go to driverall.com........and download the drivers toolkit......if i have got it right?!:)
