[Please help! I'm using windows xp. I changed my logon password then forgot what it was. I can't get into the control panel because I can't logon.

I don't have a "password recovery disk or cd" so I'm stuck "not being able to use my computer at all. Is there any way I can bypass the logon screen and get into my computer?

Short of reinstalling my op system can I get into my computer. I went to the bios but the boot order is already on "CD/IDEI" as the first boot order. I don't know what else I can do ... please help!!!

I don't know how to do this but this happened on my laptop and I had to call a local tech guy who had a special disk he inserted that allowed him to sneak in through safe mode (I believe) and it allowed me to go into the control panel and delete the forgotten password.  It cost me $40 to have him come to me and do this.  I hope you can find a free solution but I needed it done quickly so I went onto craigslist and looked for a reputable repair guy and took my chances.  Good luck!

[size=10pt]You can the following to get to your windows xp, and then change your password.

Once you are asked to type the password, do the following using your KEYBOARD :

hit the the following buttons successively :  (CRTL) + (ALT) + (DELETE)

You should see another window asks you for username and password, then type the FOLLOWING :

Administrator

It should works :)

Boot into Safe Mode [tap F8 key when system boots] / choose Safe Mode / choose Administrator.  By default the administrator accounts does not have a password / hit
"Enter"/ that should get you into the OS / change your password from User Accounts in Control Panel / WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSWORD  :o

Not allowed to post any cracking, haxing or bypassing security tools/links here.

Safe mode works if you didnt set a password after XP install. If you set a password the first time the Administrator password is also default to the first User password you chose.

I have a program that pretends to care.

Difference being that I wrote it, and it's not infested with trojans.

thank you for your agreement, which I find somewhat odd since I was responding to your post with a snarky comment.

It's a controversial topic. Basically it's up to you if you want to help or not. Just don't advise on any illegal or immoral practice to get a lost password. Or just simply send them here -> Lost or forgotten Windows password.
