Driver is blocked due to compatibility issues
    « on: May 27, 2009, 01:29:47 PM »
I tried downloading an older version of Symantec on my computer (Vista OS) and now this box keeps popping up saying: Driver is blocked due to compatibility issues. It says to check online to see if solutions are available from the Microsoft website. I did that but MS says to download the upgraded version of Symantec - which I do not want to do (I have another AV program that I'm using - Webroot). Other info: Driver: Symantec Utility Driver   Publisher: Symantec   Location: Not Available  It also says a driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows.

Is there any way I can get rid of this? Thanks for your help!

First of all, you don't run TWO antivirus programs, so your problem is solved.

Two antivirus programs are just as bad, if not worse, than none at all.
    Uninstall Symantec.

I did uninstall Symantec as soon as the problem with the pop up window began - shortly after trying to install the older version. I'm just running Webroot...I still had the pop up window saying the driver was blocked due to compatibility issues... however the pop up seems to have gone away. I have noticed a couple of programs do not seem to be working properly now - specifically a program I use to make back-up copies of my dvds called Nero.
