This happening to me again! On my old computer (and I mean OLD) a Windows 95 the CD-ROMS stopped working. The sound also didn't work so I though that might have something do do with it, since some game require a sound card. Now I got a Vista and just a few months after I get it the CD-ROMS stop working like the 95. The were working a few months ago and one day they just stop! The sound works, but when I put in a CD-ROMS and press "Play Game" a little window pops up and says "No Disk entered". Please help me out.

Are you trying to run Vista on old hardware meant for Windows 95?

If I am misunderstanding your question, please let us know, we are happy to help.

When I first got the computer I installed Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 (which is for 95 or 98) and it worked. Then RCT2 (which is for 98 or XP) and that worked too. Then when i try to install RCT3 which is the latested version of RCT and should work, nothing happens! And now all of the CD-ROMS don't work work! Not even the one I already installed! Please help me.

How old are these optical drives ? ?
They certainly don't make them like they used to.
Brand new dual-layer DVD burners are about 30 Bucks shipped from newegg if you are in the States.

Knowing more about your computer will probably come in handy.
Could you post the specs or a brand name and model number?
And does the problem only occur with some discs or with all?
Do music cds or DVD movies work for example?

Music CDs and CD-ROMS both stopped working and the DVD slot refuses to open. GATEWAY GT5670. Has anyone had this problem before?

So in other words you can't even get the drive to open? Or do you have two cd/dvd drives?

I see the PC in question comes with a DVD burner.
How about the other drive? How old is it?
Is it the DVD burner or the other drive that isn't working?

The 1st drive which is for CD-ROMS , and music CDs and things like that will open, and when you put in the CD-ROM it say that it does not detect the disk. And Im not so fimilar with this new burner becuase I haven't burned a CD for a while, not since CD-ROMS were working on my old computer

There is some hardware that new optical drives will not function with.  This is possibly the case and the point that I was trying to make.
