CD-RW drive does not read ANY disk

Hi, my CD-RW drive will not read any cd's that i put in it. After i put a cd in the drive, it flashes like it reads it but then nothing happens. My computer says its working properly but obviously it doesnt. Its a Mitsumi
CR-48X5TE. OS, Windows Me. if you could help me that would be great. thanks
