My camera won't import my pics anymore to my pc. The import box doesn't appear anymore when I plug my usb cable in. The tone sounds when I plug it in but no box appears?

can you still manually use the windows explorer/computer window to open the folder in your digital camera where the pictures are stored and just copy that to your computer?

What I mean is, first plug in your camera to your computer like you normally do. And seeing you have windows vista....

Then open the computer window .... the thing that looks something like in the screenshot (sorry screenshot has only half the entire screen... you click on the start button and then on the right side, click on the computer link. This is assuming you have the default windows vista start menu.

Then do you see some link that you can click that has the name of your camera or a picture of a camera? Or a new folder with just the name of your camera? And if you do, then try opening the folder to retrieve the picture files from your camera like you would any other folder on your computer.

Hope this helps, this is what I sometimes do when I hook up my digital camera to my computer.

I'm sorry you're still having problems.
So you mean your computer doesn't detect that your camera is plugged in at all even though it is?

Also what kind of digital camera do you have? The one I have is a Konica Minolta, it has a USB to PC cable and also uses a SD card. I can connect my  PC to the camera using the USB cord or I can use my computer's SD card reader to get the pictures off the camera.

Yes my pc detects my camara when I plug in the usb cable. I can tell because as before a tone will sound on my pc confirming that its connected. But the box that usually pops up to import photos stopped popping up. It always had before it just these last photos I've taken for some reason. I figured theres got to be a troubleshoot I can do? My camara is a Fuji.
I can plug in my MP3 w/usb cable and a box pops up. I'm puzzled

1. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/01/14/autoplayautorun-not-working-or-missing-not-open-in-windows-vista/ --> read through this and see if helps any.

2. Also, I use Picasa, which is a decent photo editing software developed by google, it can scan your entire pc for photos and videos so you might want to give that a try to see if it would detect stuff off your camera.

What do think the "camera link" would look like? I think maybe you still don't understand this.  Here, try it this.  With your camera disconnected, open Computer.  Examine that screen carefully so that you know what is there.  Then, with the Computer window still open, connect your camera and watch the Computer window.  Do you see an addtional "drive" appear there?  It will normally be labeled "Removable disk ()".

Yeah, recheck that and see if you get a removal drive icon. That can happen as when you have plugged in a removable USB device, and I am assuming your digital camera connects to the computer via a usb cable, unless I'm mistaken?

And in that case, it probably would just be labeled as "Removal Disk" with a drive letter next to it.

Can you test your camera on another computer?  One solution would be a card reader.  Does your Fuji camera use xD memory cards or some other format?
