help me

when i bought my new sony. i wanted to put some games on there. whenever i install a game, when u load it up a large black line about 2.5in. from the bottom shows up is there any way i can fix this? i use windows xp.

desktop or laptop cd or floppy have you tried full screen and altering the monitor settings using the buttons ?is this the task bar showing though?try hide task bar does it a still reappear?what resolution are you running on?
