Upon restart, the E drive icon is visible in My Computer, and is an active drive (used for backup).

After several minutes to an hour, the E drive vanishes, and cannot be found.  Only a restart will make it re-appear.  Any suggestions?  Thanx!

The drive is an operating hard drive, contains only files (back up files from C drive).  The drive a approx 2 yrs old.  OS is XP with all current updates.  Thank you!
