I made a network of two computers and I configured them with the following static IP addresses: 10.10.10.1 and 11.11.11.1 and both with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. But when I tried to ping one of the computers from the other, I couldnot do that. What is the problem?

Local Area Networks (LAN) are generally recognized to be within the address range of 192.168.x.y
Outside that range could be an internet public IP.
BTW, are the 2 computers connected through a router or through a crossover ethernet cable from LAN port on one to LAN port of the other?

They were connected through a crossover ethernet cable. But when I changed the ip address 11.11.11.1 to 10.10.10.2 everything becomes fine and I could ping each computer from the other.
