I am using a compaq computer and a dell mouse and keyboard. About an hour after starting up the computer, the mouse freezes, the computer still runs the programs, it does not crash. I then restart the computer and the mouse works but freezes again after an hour or less. I have gone into control panel to look at the drivers and it says everything is working properly. I don't understand why this happens. Please help....... Thanks

Minosis, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to CH.  The situation is regrettable, but let's see if we can get this going for you.

Please try not to pay any attention to blake00, he seems to have some attitude issue that he needs to deal with.

Can you tell me if this is a PS/2 mouse or if it is a USB mouse?

its a USB mouse. the computer is compaq and the mouse is by dell, does this matter?

I haven't tried another mouse, but I've tried the mouse on 2 different computers and it works fine on them.

They are mad because i got my computer fixed,and it wasn't through them.

I can not remember how to get to safe mode. I've found out its not just the mouse that freezes, the keyboard and my wireless reciever freeze too. everything that is connect to a USB port freezes.

Go to Control Panel - Power Options - Advanced Settings for your power plan and make sure you don't have the usb ports powering down after a period of time
